Puppy Dog Eyes is an independent, supervised beta. We collect the information needed to run the Dog Screen Test, review feedback, and improve the product. The operator’s legal details and contact mailbox still need launch review.
Two tracks. Separate choices.
Standard Beta: no recordings by default or during the guided test. Feedback and your dog’s setup details are saved when you submit them.
Research Beta: with separate explicit consent, we record the camera on the device beside your dog. Owner-side video is not required and is not recorded by this research flow. We exclude audio from the saved clips. You confirm permission on the dog-side device for each test, and a visible recording indicator stays on during capture.
The primary observation window is 30 seconds. You can choose an additional 30 seconds; the recording cap is 60 seconds. Backgrounding, interruption, or leaving the page stops the attempt. If secure recording storage is unavailable, uploads are disabled. Standard Beta remains available.
What is collected
Applications include your first name, email, country, dog profile, devices, participation choices, and versioned consent. Tests include assigned mode order, device and environment details, timing, validity flags, feedback, optional clips, and manual reviews. Region, referral source, and written notes are optional. We do not request a precise address, children’s data, or medical records.
Adults only. Do not include children or unconsenting bystanders in clips or submit their information. A dog’s camera may capture part of your home; check its framing first.
Calls and service providers
Daily supplies the encrypted audiovisual connection. We do not claim an additional end-to-end encryption layer that excludes the provider. Cloudflare handles the website connection, and the application database and configured private clip storage run on our Spark server. Each provider may process operational/network information under its policies. Daily data protection · Cloudflare privacy.
Private call invitations are single-use and time-limited. The owner approves the dog-side device before the call connects. The color effect runs in the receiving browser. Daily cloud recording, transcription, screen sharing, and streaming are not enabled by this research feature. Another participant could use separate device recording tools; we cannot prevent that.
How recordings are protected and used
Configured clips are held outside the public website directory, with restricted filesystem permissions. The dashboard requires administrator authentication. Video links expire after five minutes and also require an authenticated administrator. We do not publish a public clip library.
Clips are used for internal product research and manual dog-side video review. Future AI-assisted analysis requires the optional consent selected in the application; no AI analysis is implemented here. Marketing use requires separate optional consent and does not happen automatically.
Anonymized aggregate product/investor summaries include only participants who selected that separate permission. Raw application exports are private and may contain identifying information. Beta findings are directional observations, not clinical proof.
Retention and deletion
Clips have a deletion deadline of up to 90 days. Expired clips cannot be opened through the app. A retention cleanup job removes expired files; the operator must run and verify that job before collecting research recordings. Application and test records are retained for up to 180 days under the beta cleanup policy. Minimal completed deletion-request records are retained without the requester’s email or dog name.
Use the deletion request form for application, feedback, clips, or all beta data. Requests enter a private administrator queue. We verify ownership before fulfilling them; a submitted email alone is not proof. Removing an application also removes its dependent tests and clips. Authorized exports and any backups must be included in the operator’s deletion process.
Cookies and analytics
Essential, HTTP-only cookies protect calls and eight-hour tester/admin sessions. We use server-side counts from accepted beta records and anonymous event names. We do not install advertising pixels or send names, emails, clips, or notes to an analytics provider. Cloudflare also supplies page-performance analytics through its website beacon; this is separate from our beta feedback and recordings. About Cloudflare Web Analytics. The local dashboard demo uses synthetic data and is disabled in production.
Ordinary, non-protocol calls retain the optional “Save on this device” observation feature. Those notes stay in your browser; use its delete control or clear site storage to remove them. Guided beta feedback is saved to the backend and can be removed through the deletion workflow.
